“Cleveland Municipal Stadium used to be famous for its terrible infield.”
Fulton County stadium was even worse. It had all the bad things of Municipal plus the grounds crew were, I think, guys who paved roads for a living. One player used take infield practice in a helmet. One of the things that catapulted Ozzie to fame was a routine ground ball in Atlanta that bounced off a pebble or something, changed direction and Ozzie, somehow, changed which he was *already diving* to field it and throw the guy out.
I knew the team had turned a corner when they hired professional groundskeepers and FCS went from being one of the worst infield in baseball to one of the best.
